Sorry I have written anything on this blog for a month as I have been doing a mental health qualification and writing up and updating some power points. Therefore I am working on a disability, mental health, and hate crime awareness PowerPoint. Reasons for this are because.
If we are completely honest we are all vunable to bullying and hate crime, it can affect everyone's mind in different ways, which can be for a long time if not for life. Having disabilities, mental health or and other problems makes us no different from everyone else other than don't get me wrong when I say this of course everyone matters but most people who commit bully and hate crime, tend to go for vunable victims because they think they are less likely to report them, this may be because they may think they may be misunderstood, disbelieved, etc. Not that anyone can these days by law but they are likely to work out that vunable person could be less likely to try flighting them back. They tend to look for people in places there are no cameras and fewer people, which doesn't necessarily mean vunable people are going to get targeted either way this is not good.
Bullying and hate crime is huge emotional issues that affect the mental health of all sorts of people and all sorts of ages. Bullying and hate crime doesn't just take place in schools but anywhere at the time, any place, anywhere, which either be from people we know or don't but I may be wrong to think in crime can be mostly from people who people know to don't know.
In this subject, I have no idea where to start because it's so wide but all the same I think it is a very important awareness.
No matter how hard we try we will never really find a way of stopping all bullying and hate crimes but we can find ways of raising awareness, understanding it, and supporting victims. Like said it affects Mental health a lot. Support may not make a person 100 percent but it is here to help people cope, it does not help everyone because Mental health itself can have a huge effect on peoples' lives.
There is no perfect world out there and no one can accept that but this has always been in my mind, still is today and I guess for the rest of my life it will always be. Why do those who commit bullying and hate crimes do that? If we are all honest with ourselves we don't really know that. We all have good and bad in us and none of us are perfect but not everyone is a bully. However there is no reason that excuses anyone, in fact in many cases no reason to put others at harm, risk, etc, no reason we should let someone off the hook as if nothing has happened. All the same, it has always happened, still happens, and always sadly will. Sadly we cannot wave magic wands and make a perfect world but we can take steps to raise awareness and do our best to help those who sadly it but do the best empower those who could be thinking about it to not to.
Even though bullying and hate crime will never go away completely what has changed how we are allowed to deal with it and how we are not allowed to deal with it. How we deal with it today like how we used to deal with it has its advances and disadvantages both ways and everyones' opinion is likely to be different from how we think and feel about it, no matter what we can and cannot do.
It is hard to understand what goes through the minds of the people who harm others but all the same no reason is good enough. I am not saying I am right and I don't expect to be. I can only think as my Mum used to say when I was facing bullying myself as a small child, that the reason could be why people bully is possibly they cannot be happy in their own lives. This may sound odd someone's happiness and unhappiness may anger them to a point they take it out on them, which is still no excuse. It is a very hard subject, not necessary for everyone but in most people, it could be psychological where they think about their own life. See how the Victim's life is shown to them and play on that, which is wrong because in a lot of cases they don't necessarily know that person's whole life, and even if they did still gives them no right or excuse to harm others.
There are many different extremes of harm and neither one should be let off the hook but how it's dealed with is different and should be different but I know this makes no sense but not all behaviors are dealed with fairly to which etc not everyone has the same option. Behaviors can be from school bullies to murders in many cases. I still stand my word when I say this and don't get me wrong on this one, it's not good for others to stuffer. Not saying everyone but many say, without discrimination, without sigma, etc and I will try very hard to be careful what I say here. Mental health, mental illness affects different people in different ways, depending on what they face, whether it's mild, minor, major, etc. Not in all people, I guess but if not some most who commit bullying and hate crime face mental illness. Not all are purpose behaviors but some if not most are and that's what we don't know in everyone. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK20369/
There is a very fine line between Mental health awareness and unawareness where with some mental illnesses can cause people to where theirs and or the safety of others are at risk if the person isn't receiving treatment, medication, etc. It is not an easy subject because safety matters for everyone, lost lives are very upsetting for families friends, etc but also most mental illnesses can be serious if the person is not being treated and the person isn't getting the help they need.
Things I was told as a child is one person jealous of another, it may bother them for eg; someone may come from a poor family, rich family, not clever, clever, a better or worse life theirs, family life and backgrounds, jealously, etc.
was a small child there is no need to take it out on others and I still think the same now in my early 50s, and I always will.
Mental health awareness, disability, bullying, and hate crime can never be raised enough. As I have said many times on this website no one is forced to open up to how they feel inside and no one is made to stop talking either but how you feel doesn't improve unless you open up. There are many reasons why people either cannot or won't open and many are good reasons, even though there is counseling, therapy, and emotional support. It is very concerning that there still be suffering alone for many reasons, which could be fear, reactions of others, shame, guilt, feeling danger to themselves or and to others, fear of being judged, sigma, discrimination, etc.
