What is depression, Anxiety and stress?

Stress is the biggest killer of all, which can give us Anxiety a sense of worrying, panicking and anger.
The purpose of this power point is  to raise awareness of Anxiety and Depression.
In February we have mental Health and Depression week.
We all know that Depression is a mental health and it needs to be understood.
There are other Mental Health problems like Anxiety and stress.

Therefore without knowing we all could be suffering from Anxiety, Depression and stress when we feel sad and angrily.

Understanding Anxiety and depression.
Depression, stress and Anxiety is a feeling of sadness and anger whether you have a reason to feel depressed or not.
Depression, stress and Anxiety makes you feel alone whether you are or not.
You are not alone if you mix with others who suffer from Anxiety, stress and Depression but raise more understanding to those who don’t suffer from it.
We shouldn’t make a person with Depression feel bad if they feel sad for no reason.
No one should be made to feel bad about themselves.
We can be so easily be misunderstood by others for someone we are not.
This is because depression is a hidden mental health problem.
We may not always be aware of the way we may say or and do things to how it may sound to others.
This can make us misunderstood.
Others may find it hard to understand if you are feeling down for no reason
If we have depression it’s part of us whether we like it or not.
Naturally those without Depression don’t understand us.
Most of us may find it easy to be alone so others don’t misunderstand us and don’t make us feel bad about ourselves.

you can’t sleep or you sleep too much
you can’t concentrate or find that previously easy tasks are now difficult
you feel hopeless and helpless
you can’t control your negative thoughts, no matter how much you try
you have lost your appetite or you can’t stop eating
you are much more irritable, short-tempered, or aggressive than usual
you’re consuming more alcohol than normal or engaging in other reckless behaviour
you have thoughts that life is not worth living (seek help immediately if this is the case)
verb (used with object), misunderstood, misunderstanding.
Disabilities and health problems doesn’t help or excuse us for and with everything either.

How can Anxiety and Depression be misunderstood?

When I say depression is a feeling of sadness it doesn’t mean we are going to show sadness twenty – four hours a day.
A lot of comedy famous actors who make us laugh suffer from Depression as well.
A lot of people find it hard to understand how people who can make us laugh can feel so sad.
Robin Williams took his own life in 2014, three years ago.
People with Anxiety and Depression have to hide so much of everything we feel about life but some of us cope better than others.

It doesn’t mean that everyone with Anxiety and Depression takes their own lives but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been close to it.
That doesn’t make the people who have taken their own life as losers.
Society is a loser because society doesn’t really understand how a person really feels.

In fact Anxiety and Depression is big fight with a person’s mind to be able to cheer them up.
Some people do pull through despite of finding life tough feels to go through it others.
For others life is too much to stay alive.
For most of us we don’t know our strength, we are strong than we think.

Crisuses like broken down relationships and someone who has had someone they know who has died can set their depression off however long or it short it’s going to last.

These things happen to everyone but everyone deals with it in different ways.
Relationships can be a hard one because your partner can think you are someone you are not.
I even found for years after my last relationship broke up I put the blame to all myself.

What is Disability Hate Crime?

People with disabilities and health problems face hate crime more so that other people.
Most disabled people are understood and disbelieved by others.
Many people with disabilities and health problems can’t communicate in a way others understand.
For that reason people who commit hate crime know that most people with disabilities and health problems are less likely to report them than other people. Evidence can be very hard to prove.
There cannot be CTTV cameras everywhere.
A lot of people who commit crime are less likely to be found out.  People who commit crime find a place where they can target their victims where very few or not people around.
The government’s cuts, have made most people angry enough to take crime out on others.
Most people relate to drugs, break into buildings, shoot or and stab their victims.

Cases of Disability Hate Crime.
It is unknown to how many people report hate crime as it is so high today. At least thirty – two percent of people who have faced hate crime disabilities, crimes have been reported to Mencap in 1999, these cases have likely to have risen since then.
Anti – Social behavior is a form of bullying and Hate crime. There are different types of Anti – Social behavior that can affect different victims in different ways.

How can we prevent hate crime

One way to prevent hate crime is.
It would be better if there were more places for young people to go.
Things to do like hobbies, interests and careers but not all hate crime is down to young people.
Not everyone who is poor takes it out on others.

 Time to learn.

Please slit into so many groups to chat about what you have learned in this session.

I would like you to talk what other people need to learn about disability and hate crime, for example communication.
Please feedback to me in about fifteen to twenty minutes, thank you.

My hate crime story.

Once something has been put on the mind it can take people with disabilities and health problems a long time to accept what's happened but the length of time can vary from person to person, for some people it never goes aways.

 Learning Disability Hate Crime Awareness.

On Monday 20th February 2012, at 8.20pm, I faced Learning Disability Hate Crime by home area in Bradmore. I was just going into town for a drink to meet friends.

As I was going out to lock my door at 8.15pm, I saw an Indian guy with pale blue sweater with a hood, he had black curly hair, mid brown skin and he was roughly about just over 5 foot 5 in height.
He was on the opposite side of the road to me; he headed off faster than me. I didn't think anything of him because I don't know him.

I walked along the road, stood waiting for my bus.
The same guy came behind me as he grabbed my bag out my hand, ran across the road, go into a blue car while it was driving.
Whoever was driving was driving so fast him or she would have been done for speeding if the police would have seen them.
At speed it was going I couldn't catch the reg number.
I am not very good with numbers anyway.

For 5 minutes I walked around in shock and Sheer panic.
I knew my phone and keys were in my bag so I ran across the pub, the staffs were very good as they rang the police and I had a free pint.
The police came down, took my details and then drove me to my sister's home.
Lucky my sister had a spare set of my keys.
My sister and her boyfriend were very good; they drove me to my home to get my computer and laptop to take to their home.
My sister stopped my calls on my phone, rang Centro to sort me out a new Disabled bus pass and stop my bank because my card was taken out of my bus pass, which was also in my bag.

The next morning the police came to my sister's house to take a statement off me.
I hadn't slept very well there that night; everything was all going round and round inside my head.
By the time I did a statement with police I had a bad job remembering anything other than this Indian guy with blue sweater and the blue car he jumped into.

From there my sister and her boyfriend drove me up to my home to change my locks and put my computer and laptop back where it was before the crime.

On the Thursday of that week the police came down to my home lucky for me bring back my bag.
My bank card was taken out of my Disabled bus pass, but my Disabled bus pass card was taken out its wallet.
My bank card had gone.
The police did finger prints on an Iceland shopping card, my library card and my Disabled bus pass card but nothing was found.

Not long after the police left that day Victim support rang me to ask how I was feeling. I told them I was in shock but the police, my sister and her boyfriend have been great support.
In a couple days Victim support sent me an attack alarm.
At the end of last week someone from Victim rang me up to make an appointment for me to have some counseling on Tuesday this week at 1.00pm

someone had handed my bag into the police station.
I think he took what he wanted and left the bag just anywhere, which is good for me but he's made himself found out without him knowing about it.
Then isn't good, he shouldn't have took my bag at all.

Last Thursday I and my sister went down to the Police station so I could look at some picture but none of them looked like him.
I drew a picture of the man who robbed, which I gave the police.

Lucky for me even though I couldn't ring anyone or get into my home the night of the crime because my keys and phone were in my bag.

I am lucky I live near a local pub, I would have panic more.
It can be very hard to trust anyone today.
I would be scared of knocking on peoples’ doors mainly if I don't know them because I could be anyone to them, even though I am not that kind of person but they don't know that. I guess I may have found help but it would have took longer than it did if I hadn't have lived near the pub.
I only panic for about 5 minutes wondering what to do because I was in complete shock.
There are some people with disabilities and health problems worse than me.
They may have been wondering around all night having families, carers and etc worrying about them.
Lucky for me my communication skills aren't that bad so I was a bit understood by the police compared to how I was years ago, this is why nothing has been done about the crimes I have faced in the past.
This can make a lot of crimes disbelieved because a lot of people with disabilities and health problems find it hard to make ourselves understood.
Like I said in one of my reports last year, there are not CCTV cameras everywhere.

All disabilities and health problems are different some get better as people get older but others don't.

People who commit crimes always pick a quiet moment where no one is about to be seen.
Normally outside my local pub, mostly there are people smoking outside but for some strange reason it was very quiet that night of the crime.
When I walked into the pub after the crime there were only two members of bar staff and one customer who was gone in no time.

What is a Learning Disability?

A Learning Disability can happen before, during and after birth, which can affect the body, brain or both. Find out how on WWW.mencap.org.uk

In the last handout I wrote, which was about, in your job you can expect to come across people who are more sensitive to things that just seem a very small problem or no problem at all, such as  Home, health, education, work, social lives, family or and etc. These people need support in different things such as those examples I have just written depending on the disabilities they have got.

Stress is hard for everyone to cope with but by studying different types of disabilities on the Mencap website you will see why disabilities make these people more sensitive than other people. This is can be the same with health problems and mental health problems just the same stress is even harder to cope when we are unwell but a lot of people who have long - term conditions, health problems, mental health problems, disabilities or and etc there's risk of any kind of stress affecting them for longer, making them unwell or twice as unwell. Things like tummy upsets, colds and or etc is something that we all have time after time for people with disabilities, health problems, mental health problems, long - term conditions or and etc is something extra compared to other people, that doesn't mean we should be treated any different, any special or like children when we are adults but to keep an eye on us a bit more but not to a point we are being Mummy cuddled.

Some people will find harder than others depending on the disabilities they have got and how it affects them. In some areas of life, they can manage better than people other disabilities and even those without but it can vary from person to person so except anything off anybody. In most people, it will depend whether it affects the brain, body or both.  There needs to be a balance of support and Indepence for a person to get the right support and independence to give these people an equal life to other people, which is where PCP comes in Person Centred Planning.
Here's a link I wrote for the Learning Disability nurses two years ago, which may give you a rough   idea of what people with disabilities, health problems. mental health problems and long - term conditions face. http://sararevealed.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/learning-disability-and-mental-health.html?spref=fb

What is stress?

Think about what get's you down in your life but you don't have to tell us unless you want to.

All we need to know is how you cope with it and how it affects you.

How would you help and or treat someone who is going through stress for whatever reason who has disabilities, health problems, mental health problems, long - conditions or and etc?
As odd as it may sound the fact that those of us who more sensitive than those people without disabilities and that, we tend to feel sad, angerly, fur straughted or and etc with or without a reason, which can be embarrassing when we feel negative for no reason.

People with disabilities and health problems for example, they may feel stressed they have been treated by others when it comes to a lack of communication and understanding. Too many people taking them different things on one thing, which can be confusing to a point it is a health risk on how it can affect whatever illness, condition or and etc they have got. Just remember the most common ones such as Epilepsy, Anxiety, Depression, Diabetes or and etc. On top of that there could be a risks of such things as strokes and heart attacks if the person is really stressed.

We tend to be misunderstood, when feel negative for no reason because it's something people don't understand unless they go through the same. As the years have gone on, society has been trying to understand. It's not fully understood even by those of us who go through it ourselves, which is why it can make those of who are going through it feel embarrassed how we feel, which can be part of the person's condition or whatever else they may be suffering from.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying so much in the last ten to twenty years or so but  roughly 30 odd years back or more, people who suffered from conditions that made them negative either without a reason or with or without a reason were from my experience seen as an attention seeker just turning up to see a Health profession to waste their time, which is not the case for those who suffer from conditions and other things that affect their lives more so than others, which made the person suffering feel twice as bad and unwell than before they walked through the room. What we shouldn't do is make the person feel as if they are doing something wrong all the while. We shouldn't make them feel as if they are hard work. We should try to think about how we would feel if we were in their positive, put yourself in that person's shoes. Move on from the past, don't make them feel as if they wasting your time. What I have said you may not need to know all but it's good to have the understanding so you tell other Health professions if you need to. http://www.itv.com/news/2017-01-11/defendant-slashes-his-own-throat-in-court/

It's true what they say when dealing with someone who or who can't help themselves is no use helping. However' these things should be worth checking out mainly when it comes to proof of their conditions and or whatever they may be suffering from. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't mean that you shouldn't take and step back and be too soft on them. I do agree there are a lot out there who are milking the system and even attention seeking just to waste worker's time. However' without asking for proof and checking with some people you could be turning the wrong ones away. Bearing in  mind a lot of people have been sent from place to place and pillow to post and not getting anywhere to a point where they feel it's not worth trying again. Feeling as if they are hard work to society to a point they have had enough and are at risk of taking their own lives, which no one wants to hear of or see. This is where the benefit system has been a fine example of that for the past coming up to seven years this year. However' don't get me wrong please do watch your health and safety, at the same time I do understand that Health professions so have their share stress too from all kinds of patients.

As a paramedic, it is your job to prepare you patience for hospital and have some understanding why the person is unwell.

Stress, Worry, Panic, Anxiety, Sadness and Depression.

Stress is a form of worry in life's situation which we all suffer from time but most of us most so than others, meaning some of us are more sensitive, which then becomes Anxiety. It's always on our minds until whatever we are worried is sorted one way or the other. If it can can't be sorted, then it sets into fear, then it does sets into panic.  However' more often than not we worry about things that are less of a problem to you, something small to you but huge to us, it feels like the end of the world. When it comes to Depression things can seem more negative than what they really or and people who don't Mental Health problems. Depression is a feeling of sadness, Anxiety is a feeling of worry, fear and panic whether there's a reason or not, which can vary from person to person.

Examples of worries people with disabilities and health problems face.

Everyone's life and emotions are different so we all have different problems and worries, naturally. Some of us are more sensitive than others. Mostly people with disabilities and health problems worry about the benefits cuts, changes, not able to work. being put into the wrong work, not able to get the support they need for what they need or and etc. Even Hate Crime is one of them, which is a huge concern but also a major concern.

The government is mostly to blame for making valuable people victims mainly when it comes to the benefits cuts.  http://sararevealed.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/plan-for-disability-hate-crime.html http://sararevealed.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/learning-disability-hate-crime.html this affect people physically and mentally depending kind of crime it is.

This is where there can be communication barriers. A lot people excepting more of people, which is not surprising when there are so many disabilities and health problems that are hidden but even then it's not always the case.

These are a list of links that can worry people with disabilities and health problems to a point their health and even lives are at risk.

Admins and a Head Admin wanted for ' Friends Who Like I Grew Up In 70s & 80s Britain.

Image may contain: 3 people

We try to work as a team.

It's not necessary that you have to have every skill involve, training is involved plus there are always other Admins on the team who are likely to be able to do what can't and the same the other way round.

No time scale or limit.

As facebook groups are not jobs, you free to choose when you  come on our groups and however long or short for. That way you don't have to let us know if and when you have other things going. Feel free to come on the groups as and when your free and when you feel like it. However' if you can be with us say three days of week, we would be more grateful but start and finish whenever you want when you on and come and go when you please.

Head Admin wanted!
Someone would be able to be to work and share the work with me.
Someone who would have the time on their hands and would want to help out at least, a morning, an afternoon or evening a week, even if at all possible to be around when I am not.
Up dating pinned post, adding music, films, documentaries, interviews and etc from 70s and 80s artist from Youtube.
Adding pictures of items from the 70s and 80s decade and asking members questions on the post that added and to try to encourage members to add post.

Admins wanted.
We need at least one more admin who can add post on anything to do with the 70s and 80s decade and ask members questions on anything to do with the post they add.
If you can't add post as such put something in writing about the 70s and 80s  decade on something or somebody that interests you and see how members share the same interest as you but accept you always get people who share the same interest as you.
Check profiles and add members.

Safety Guarding responsibility for Head Admins and Admins.
To be able to keep everyone on the group safe such as looking out for members writing messages to Admins, which could be one member reporting another for example.
Someone who can check profiles before deciding whether to add new members or block them, training is involved in knowing what to look for if needs be .
Someone who also knows how to keep themselves safe as well as everyone on the group, meaning to  remove and block members who break the rules of the group before the member can row with the Head Admin any longer than necessary.

You need to have been on Facebook at three months.
Please think about this very careful before you decide as there's quite a bit extra work to being a Head compared to being an Admin.
If anyone is interested please write a comment in the comment box under this website link or if you are a member of this group already please message me on the group, thank you.
