Disabilities, Health problems, friendships and relationships.

Here's a bit of a change from health as Valentine's day is tomorrow. Although there may well be a bit this report about health.

People with disabilities and health problems can always access social lives easily compared to other people. As a disabled person you can feel as if you are too much of a bother to other people. For a lot of disabled people it's hard for us to make friends with other people let alone having someone in our lives who hasn't got disabilities and health problems. Many non disabled want children therefore a lot of disabled people need a lot of support look after children, a lot of non disabled people find it too much. no one is saying just having children a lot disabled people get turned away from, there are other things like driving a car and many can't get a full time job.

When it comes to sexual health it's just as important for people with disabilities and health problems to keep healthy and safe as much as other people.  Sexual diseases are very serious. Like I said in one of my reports Freddie Mercury died of Aids in 1991, Please use protection http://disability-studies.leeds.ac.uk/files/library/change-final-report-read-copy.pdf

There was a time disabled people were starting to get a bit support until the government started to do a lot of cuts starting 2009.

Although Valentine's day is well over life still goes on. People with disabilities and health problems are just as human as other people therefore we should have the rights for an equal life.  Before, during and after Valentine's day I saw a good many videos of people with disabilities of what they face with friendships, relationships and date. It's quite a mixed circle to how people with disabilities and health problems get along people like themselves compared to how they get along with other people. May you can email me your experiences if you like you are a non disabled people who has dated as disabled people, if you are disabled and you have dated non disabled people or and if you are disabled and you have dated a disabled person. sarajgorman@gmail.com Communication can be so different with different people.

As people with disabilities and health problems we are very restricted to what we can and can't do. Many of us are restricted for example having a family and learning to drive due to certain disabilities and health problems. When it comes to relationships most disabled people have been turned down by non disabled people because they need a lot more support than someone who's not disabled. Most non disabled people want children, which for most people is too much for them because they see it as a disabled person needs a lot of support.

On the 9th February at Wolverhampton University Walsall Campus, we asked the 2nd year Student Learning Disabilities nurses what is important to them, Many people said marriage, family, friends, career and etc. Compared to people with disabilities and health problems, very little support the mainstream people need to access the things they may want and or even need in life. No one is saying that mainstream people don't have problems but they don't have to feel as if they are putting on others as much. It was very interesting that we did this session a week before Valentine's day because we asked the students what they wanted in life yet when it comes to people with disabilities and health problems they are limits what we can do in life compared to other people.  When we access the social side of life when it comes to friendship, dating and relationships we have the risks of knock backs more so than people without disabilities and health problems to we can on with people and to people get on with us meaning communication. I know people as whole can't always get what they want but how many non disabled people's reasons are because they can't get the support. Ok yes they may need support, every needs support one time or another but people with disabilities and health problems need support twice as much as non disabled people do.  Yes I know this can confuse things to a point that each person who has disabilities and health problems have different disabilities and health problems therefore some people with need more support than others. What the government doesn't seem to understand that things that people can manage and what they enjoy the less support all people need than they would on the negative side meaning the things they are not so good at and what they don't enjoy. If the government thought that way they would be spending less money.
