Some people may
need personal care support such as washing, bathing, showing, washing hair
brushing, cutting hair, cutting nails, keeping their nails clean, shaving,
dressing and undressing
Some may need
support with household tasks, cooking and shopping.
What disabilities
and health problems make it hard for most people to achieve these skills?
How is teaching
people with disabilities and health problems different to teaching other
people? Bear in mind some people need more support than others because everyone
who has disabilities and health problems has different disabilities and health
problems.
Due to the cuts I
guess there doesn’t seem to be a lot of assessments these days but all the same
you never know what the service you could work for will allow. These
assessment are good to be able to assess peoples’ needs mainly this day and age
where we get a mixer of people who disabilities and health problems and those
who haven’t.
In the case
of the benefit system being so high these days this is where these assessments
are needed.
When it
comes to the benefit forms a lot of people with disabilities and health
problems don’t want find the benefit forms easy to read and understand. The
same goes for the benefits letters when they are so many pages long. This
assessment training could help you to support people who go through the benefit
cuts or and people who have their benefits changed, as you get to know
different people with disabilities and health problems it help you support
their proof to the needs they have for support for possibly their benefits or
and even in the workplace.
There’s no saying
you will find yourself doing this job but at least you have the skill if it is
needed. In the past a lot of places like care homes and such professions as
Support workers and Social services have given out these assessment but not
necessary to the way people with disabilities and health problems understand. I
guess now these assessments are few and far between due to the cuts. Whether
you have a need to this training or not maybe you could be interested in an
example of what could be an accessible assessment for if not all but most
people with disabilities and health problems to understand? I have college
tonight so I will add pictures to the example of the easy read assessment sheet
tomorrow. This could come in handy for your workplaces possibly.
Task 1
May be you can
finish off this easy read accessible by doing an easy ready assessment sheet on
personal care such as getting someone out of bed, washing, bathing, showering,
shaving and etc.
Task 2
Make notes to why
a person may find certain skills hard for example someone may be able to use a
kettle better than a drinks machine or the other way round depending how their
disabilities and health problems affect them.
Task 3
May be you could
be looking at travelling training setting up easy read or and bullet point 123,
ABC travelling training program-mes. Such as directions where to get
a train, bus, tram and etc different people find it easy to travel different
ways.
